I have been working with copper for the last twenty years. I am intrigued with the way copper moves under pressure and how heat and chemicals can change its color.
Although copper is not considered a "precious metal", my interaction with it is far more spontaneous and synergistic than when I work with silver or gold. Copper often doesn't react the same way under the exact same circumstances and conditions. It is more of a dance with copper; sometimes it takes the lead, and sometimes I do. What the metal and I end up with is totally unique to that piece. Silver is a more obedient partner. I can reproduce my results exactly. I use silver to offset the color, texture and form of the copper in a number of my pieces.
