Here's the thing, I've never been able to draw a straight line or color within the lines. But that didn't stop me from taking one class after another, year in & year out. After each class, I'd say "Next".
At 46 years young, I took my first mosaic class. Recycling everyday items & creating mosaic art for home & garden became my passion. In 2001, my studio was featured on HGTV's "Our Place". The segment focused on how I recycled bowling balls &, created mosaic gazing balls. HGTV also turned out to be a springboard for another passion - teaching.
My series of 'how-to' videos & DVD's now help others learn how to create mosaic art. I can't begin to express the joy of helping others discover their creative talents. Most exciting are students who have gone on to "sell their art" ...... even one who appeared on HGTV!
Working in mosaics changed the way I approached my photography - by focusing on the details of the surroundings & not the big picture. As I record the moments that speak to me, photography continues to be an emotional journey. With my camera lens, I capture what I see... but it is my vision & today's technology that transform my raw images into Photographic Art!
To see the outcome of my effort, is a way to see myself more clearly as a human being. If my work touches you in some way, I am pleased. If my work transposes you to another place & time, I am thrilled. If you share my photos with someone else I will be grateful.
